Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s anti-corruption Vigilance sleuths on Thursday apprehended a Junior Engineer and a Junior Clerk from from Cuttack and Kendrapada district respectively for allegedly taking bribe.
Bauribandhu Parida, Junior Engineer in Badamba Block of Cuttack was caught while accepting Rs 30,000 bribe from a contractor) for passing of muster roll in connection with a development work under MGNREG scheme.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the accused, a vigilance release said.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Parida from Disproportionate Assets angle. During searches so far, Rs 3 lakhs cash has been recovered from the house of Parida located at Balikuda, Cuttack. A car worth Rs 15 lakh and RSD documents of a plot recently purchased at approx Rs 30 lakh have been recovered. Searches are continuing.
In another case, Manas Dhala, Dealing Assistant (Jr. clerk) in the office of the Block Education Officer (BEO) at Patamundai in Kendrapada was aprehended by Vigilance officials while accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 from a teacher for drawl of his arrear salary pending more than a year.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the accused Dhala and seized. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Dhala from DA angle.
Separate cases have been registered against the two and investigation is in progress. Further details are awaited.
