Bhubaneswar: A Sub-Inspector of Police was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance sleuths in Jajpur district on Wednesday for allegedly accepting Rs 5,000 bribe from a man to help him in settlement of claims for the death of his father in an accident.
The accused was identified as Keshab Chandra Dash, SI of Police at Binjharpur Police Station in Jajpur.
Official sources said the accused was caught at his government quarter while demanding and accepting Rs 5,000/- from the Complainant to give him the post-mortem report and help him get claim for the death of his father in an accident on May 20, 2024.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the exclusive possession of the accused and seized.
Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Dash from DA angle.
A case has been registered and investigation is in progress against the accused police personnel.
