Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Saturday apprehended a Section Officer in the office of Tehsildar in Kendrapada while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
According to Vigilance sources, John William Barala, who is a Section Officer at the office of Tehsildar Pattamundai in Kendrapada district was caught red-handed while he was taking the bribe from the complainant for issuing a certified copy of a case record related to partition of land.
The entire bribe money was recovered and seized by Vigilance officials.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two residential locations of the Section Officer from a disproportionate assets (DA) angle, sources said.
A case has been filed in this connection at the Cuttack Vigilance police station under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (PC) (Amendment) Act, 2018.
