Bhubaneswar: A day after being nabbed by Odisha Vigilance for allegedly taking bribe, Additional Tehsildar and in-charge Tehsildar of Jajpur’s Binjharpur Pradipta Kumar Sethi was formally arrested and forwarded to the court on Saturday.
Sethi, an ORS officer, was appreh
ended by Vigilance sleuths on Friday while allegedly demanding and accepting Rs 30,000 bribe from a landowner for favourable demarcation of his land.
A Vigilance team laid a trap based on a complaint and caught Sethi red-handed while receiving the bribe amount. The entire tainted cash of Rs 30,000 was recovered from his possession and seized on the spot.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches were carried out by officers of Odisha Vigilance. During searches, cash worth Rs 5,06,490 was unearthed and seized.
A case (Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No 36/19.12.2025) has been registered against Sethi under the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation in the case is underway.
