Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested Rayagada Peripheral DFO Bijaya Kumar Parida for allegedly accumulating disproportionate assets to the tune of 206% of his known sources of income.
He was brought to Bhubaneswar for questioning earlier in the day.
The agency found disproportionate assets worth over Rs 4 crore, including a G+3-storey building of 9,500 sqft worth Rs 1.8 crore in Cuttack, a triple-storey building and a flat in Bhubaneswar, 17 plots in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and other towns, Rs 1.24 lakh in cash and gold jewellery weighing 650 gm, in the name of Parida and his family members during simultaneous searches at seven places the previous day.
The raids were conducted on properties linked to the DFO in Rayagada, Khurda, Cuttack and Jajpur districts.
Assets Unearthed
1) G+3-storey building (under construction) over Khata No-200/391, Plot No-16/708 at Srikoruan. Cuttack, with plinth area of 9,500 sqft worth Rs 1.8 crore.
2) A three-storey building at Palasuni in Bhubaneswar with a plinth area of 511 sqft
3) Flat at Ashirbad Plaza, Kalarahanga, Patia, Bhubaneswar.
4) 17 plots in prime areas of Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack and Jajpur.
5) Rs 1,24,600 in cash.
6) Gold jewellery weighing 650 gms.
7) 1 four wheeler (Maruti Swift Dzire) and 2 two-wheelers and household articles worth over Rs 17.87 lakh
“After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Parida were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets, which were 206% in excess of his known sources of income. Investigation of the case is in progress,” a Vigilance release said.
