Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Saturday arrested Kishore Kumar Sahani, Senior Assistant at City Hospital, Cuttack, for possessing huge assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The arrest was made after searches by Vigilance sleuths found that Sahani, Senior Assistant, City Hospital, Office of CDMO, Cuttack, was in possession of disproportionate assets including 2 buildings, 19 high value plots, cash Rs 3.30 lakhs, gold 135 grams, deposits over Rs 55.48 lakhs, etc, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sahani were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 201% in excess of his known sources of income.
Investigations further revealed that Sahani allegedly misappropriated government funds to the tune of Rs 1.24 crore during his tenure at City Hospital. The irregularities reportedly involved non-deposit of government money, fraudulent withdrawals from official accounts, and transfer of funds to personal accounts of himself and family members.
During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets worth crores were unearthed in the name of Sahani and his family members;
1) One Triple storeyed building measuring an area of 2500 Sq. ft. located at Jobra Nuasahi, Cuttack.
2) One building and poultry farm spanning approx 2.5 acres located at Palasia/Padhania, Choudwar, Cuttack.
3) 19 high value plots including 18 plots in and around Cuttack town and 1 in Jatni, Khurda.
4) Cash of Rs.3,30,800/-.
5) Gold ornaments weighing 135 gms.
6) Bank & Postal deposits worth Rs.55,48,406/-
7) 1 four wheeler (Hyundai Santro) & 3 two wheelers.
8) Household articles worth around Rs.11 Lakhs.
Vigilance has registered a case against Sahani. The probe is underway to ascertain the full extent of his assets and financial irregularities.
