Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Thursday arrested a former secretary of Dahunda Service Co-operative Society under Bhogarai Block of Balasore district for allegedly misappropriating government funds to the tune of Rs
19.80 lakh.
The accused, identified as Subal Kumar Sahu, was earlier dismissed from service. He was arrested for alleged misappropriation of Rs 19,80,255/- for extending benefit to ineligible members of the society under Crop Insurance Scheme during financial year 2014-15 by manipulating official records.
Vigilance department said in a statement that the accused is being forwarded to the court of the special judge, Vigilance, Balasore.
In this connection, a case has been registered against Sahu under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation in the case is underway.
