Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Saturday arrested Deputy Superintendent of Excise-cum-I/C Superintendent of Excise, Nabarangpur, Gonga Paikray on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Paikray was found in possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 208% of his known sources of income, which he could not account for satisfactorily, Vigilance officials said.
The Vigilance on Friday conducted simultaneous raids at six locations related to Paikray to unearth his properties. The agency has also traced properties worth crores belonging to Paikray.
The properties include a triple-storey residential building in Jeypore, another triple-storey residential building at Jeypore. The agency also traced a tin parking shed surrounded by compound wall at Jagadhatripur, Jeypore, advance amount of Rs 16 lakh paid to Annapurna Real Estate, Jeypore during 2013-14 to purchase housese and five plots in Jeypore town.
This apart, cash of Rs 1, 09,150, two four-wheelers and two 2-wheelers were traced during the raids.
After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Paikray, were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 208% in excess of his known sources of income, the Vigilance said.
