Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Thursday arrested Rabindra Kumar Nayak, Ranger of Kendrapada Forest Range, for allegedly amassing huge assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The arrest followed simultaneous
searches at properties linked to Nayak, during which Vigilance officials unearthed assets that were found to be disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to the Vigilance Department, Nayak was placed under arrest and will be produced today before the Court of the Special Vigilance Judge in Cuttack.
Assets detected during searches included a palatial four-storeyed building measuring 7,038 square feet, another building, six high-value plots, 283 grams of gold, cash of Rs. 2.14 lakhs, bank deposits worth Rs. 76 lakhs, and one four-wheeler.
Nayak failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the assets found during the searches, Vigilance said.
A case has been registered against him at Kataka Vigilance Police Station (Case No. 25/2026) under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
