Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday arrested Jatni Municipality executive officer (EO) Surjyamani Pattajoshi for allegedly accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Assets worth crores, including four flats in Bhubaneswar, two multi-storey buildings in state capital, 11 plots, gold ornaments weighing 475 grams, Rs 17 lakh in cash and deposits worth over Rs 90 lakh, in the names of Pattajoshi and his kin were unearthed during simultaneous searches in Bhubaneswar, Khurda, Berhampur and Ganjam. The EO failed to provide a satisfactory explanation on the assets, whose total worth could surpass Rs 6 crore.
PROPERTIES IN BHUBANESWAR
Pattajoshi owns a luxury flat in Jagamara area and another in Unit-III, Kharavela Nagar. He reportedly made an advance payment of Rs 56.40 lakh towards a 4.5-BHK flat valued at Rs 2.5 crore, registered under his wife’s name in the upscale Delta Square area here. Another flat found at BJB Nagar is suspected to be his benami property.
OTHER ASSETS
The Vigilance also traced a four-storey building (under construction) over 5,500 sqft at Ankuli in Berhampur. The 11 high-value plots are located in Jatni, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur and other parts of Ganjam district.
SERVICE RECORD
Pattajoshi joined government service on March 22, 1994, as a junior engineer in Nabarangpur Municipality. He served as JE in different notified area councils (NACs) in the state from April 2, 1996, to August 4, 2006. He was promoted to the rank of assistant engineer on Jan 10, 2007, and posted at Jatni Municipality on February 1, 2024.
