Rourkela: Odisha Vigilance on Thursday apprehended Arupa Nanda Das, ASI, Badagaon Police Station of Sundargarh district, for taking a bribe of Rs 25,000.
Nanda was caught demanding and taking the bribe from a dhaba owner to help him in a case and also to allow his business run smoothly.
ASI Das threatened to arrest the eatery owner if his demand of Rs25,000 was not met. The hotel owner then reported the matter to vigilance authorities, who acted promptly.
The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Das, and seized.
Simultaneous searches were conducted at four locations linked to Das from DA angle.
Rourkela Vigilance PS Case No 01/2026,U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against the accused, ASI Das.
Investigation is underway.
