Sundargarh: Vigilance apprehended a Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) while taking a bribe of Rs 2,000 in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Monday.

According to a release of Odisha Vigilance, an Anganwadi worker had filed a complaint stating that the CDPO of Kutra in the district, Jayashree Pattnaik, was demanding Rs 5,000 as bribe for not giving adverse report against her (complainant) following a surprise visit to the Angawanwadi Centre. The CDPO had demanded Rs 2,000 as first instalment.

Following the complaint, the Vigilance set a trap and the Angnanwadi worker went to give the bribe money to the CDPO. The Vigilance officials nabbed Pattnaik while she was accepting the money. They recovered the entire bribe amount from Pattnaik and seized it.

Following the trap, the Vigilance launched simultaneous searches on the properties of Pattnaik at two locations from DA angle.
