Sonepur: A Head Clerk at the office of a Sub-Registrar in Odisha’s Sonepur district was apprehended along with another person by Vigilance sleuths on Teusday for allegedly accepting Rs 24,000 bribe from a man to process sale deeds for land registration.
Siba Prasad Guru, Head Clerk at the office of Sub-Registrar at Tarava, and Hemakanta Bishi, a private person, were apprehended by Vigilance officials who laid a trap following a complaint.
Guru was allegedly accepting Rs 24,000 from a complainant through Bishi in order to process six sale deeds for registration of land. The entire bribe money has been recovered from Bishi and seized, a Vigilance release said.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Guru from Disproportionate Assets angle.
A case was registered under section 7/12 PC Amendment Act, 2018 against both the accused persons. Investigation is in progress against both Guru Bishi. Detailed report follows.
