Odisha Vigilance Nabs Health Worker While Taking Bribe From Poor Farmer

Bhubaneswar: A male health worker (MHW) and clerk was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday for allegedly taking bribe from a farmer for issuing birth certificate of his son in at Muniguda in Rayagada district.

The accused, identified as Kunja Bihari Rout, works as a MHW-cum-Clerk at Muniguda community health centre (CHC) in the district.

He was caught Vigilance while demanding and taking 2nd and final instalment of Rs 3,000/- of overall demand of bribe of Rs 6,000/- from a poor farmer in his office room for issuance of birth certificate of his son, an official release said.

Rout had received Rs 3000/- from the complainant a few days back, but insisted on the rest bribe amount for furnishing the same.

Finding no other way, the poor complainant approached the Vigilance authorities alleging harassment by Rout. Following this, a Vigilance team nabbed Rout while taking rest bribe amount of Rs.3000 from the complainant. The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered from the possession of accused Rout and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Rout from DA angle. A case has been registered and investigation is in progress.
