Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday apprehended Narendra Kumar Sahu, junior engineer, NAC, Kashinagar, in Gajapati district, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a contractor to pass a bill for payment towards construction work executed by the latter.
The contractor had lodged a complaint with Vigilance alleging that Sahu had demanded illegal gratification worth Rs 30,000 to pass the payment for the work completed by him. In response, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap to nab Sahu.
The entire bribe money of Rs 30,000 was recovered from Sahu’s possession. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at three locations of Sahu to unearth is disproportionate assets (DA).
Berhampur Vigilance has lodged a case u/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further probe is on, sources said.
