Odisha Vigilance Nabs Police SI While Taking Bribe From Bricks Manufacturer

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths apprehended a sub-inspector (SI) of Police for allegedly taking Rs 20,000 bribe from a bricks factory owner in Banki area of Cuttack district on Saturday.

The accused was identified as Prasanna Kumar Mohali, SI of Police at Subarnapur outpost under the jurisdiction of Banki police station.

He was nabbed while demanding and taking bribe of Rs 20,000 to furnish seizure list and certified copy of FIR related to the case registered earlier to help bricks factory owner claim insurance as the factory had been set ablaze by some unknown miscreants, a Vigilance statement said.

The complainant approached the SI repeatedly for the documents. However, Mohali refused to furnish the required documents unless he was paid Rs 20,000/- as bribe. Finding no other means, the complainant alleged before Vigilance authorities narrating his harassment.

Following this, a team of Vigilance nabbed Mohali while taking bribe Rs.20,000/- from the complainant. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the accused and seized

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Mohali from DA angle. A case has been registered and investigation is in progress.
