Odisha Vigilance Nets Sub-Collector With 3 Multi-Storey Buildings, 13 Plots In Bhubaneswar & 2 Other Places

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Monday unearthed 3 multi-storey buildings, including a 3-storey in Bhubaneswar, 13 high value plots, Rs 1.48 lakh in cash and 250 gram gold during raids on Kamakshyanagar sub-collector Narayan Chandra Nayak for allegedly accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Simultaneous house searches were carried out by teams led by 7 DSPs, 3 inspectors, 8 ASIs, and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, at 10 places in Bhubaneswar (Khurda), Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, and Mayurbhanj.

Assets detected in the name of Nayak and his family members are as follows:

1. Triple-storey building (under construction) over 4800 sqft area at Jharpada, Bhubaneswar.

2. Triple-storey building over 6900 sqft area at Kuansa, Bhadrak.

3. Double-storey building (under construction) over 6200 sqft area at Gelpur, Bhadrak.

4. 13 high value plots (6 in Bhubaneswar, 6 in Bhadrak and 1 in Pipili, Puri)

5. 250 gram gold.

6. Rs 1,48,680 in cash.

7.  A two-wheeler.

The measurement and valuation/assessment of the  buildings/plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing. Other deposits and investments are being ascertained, an official release said.

Raids were conducted at these following places:

1) Triple-storey building under construction over plot No. 709/2472, khata-361, Jharpada, Bhubaneswar.

2) Single-storey building over plot No. 709/2472, Jharpada, Bhubaneswar.

3) Triple-storey building at Kuansa, Bhadrak.

4) Double-storey building under construction at Gelpur, Bhadrak.

5) Office chamber of the sub-collector at Kamakshyanagar in Dhenkanal district.

6) Government quarter of Nayak at Kamakshyanagar, Dhenkanal.

7) Paternal house at Kapagaria village, Basudevpur, Bhadrak.

8) House of relative at Barunai, Bhadrak.

9) House of his associate at Joragadia, Bhandaripokhari, Bhadrak.

10) House of another associate at Dhalpur, Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj.

Nayak joined government service through OPSC-OSCS 1997. He served as Assistant Settlement Officer, Kalahhandi, and Additional Tehsildar, Bhawanipatna, from 1999 to 2004. He worked as the BDO at Khariar, Dasarathpur and Balianta block offices for about a decade (2014 to 2023). He has been posted as Kamakhyanagar sub-collector since 2023. He entered the OAS cadre in 2011, promoted to OAS (SB) cadre in 2021 and OAS (S) in 2023.
