Odisha Vigilance Seizes Rs 4.53 Lakh ‘Ill-Gotten Cash’ From OSWC Godown Supdt, Searches On

Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance on Friday seized Rs 4.53 lakh alleged ill-gotten cash from Debiprasad Mohanty, Superintendent of  Odisha State Warehousing Corporation (OSWC) godown at Nimapara in Puri district.

According to an official release, he was intercepted by the Vigilance officials while waiting for a bus at Nimapara. Another Rs 59,610 were recovered from him during personal search. Following this, a raid was conducted on his residential quarters at Warehouse Colony, Unit 8, Bhubaneswar, where Rs 1.8 lakh in cash was recovered. “Mohanty could not account for the cash seized satisfactorily,” it said.

The Vigilance put the total cash recovered at Rs 4,53,610.

At present, simultaneous searches are being carried out at three locations linked to Mohanty from disproportionate assets angle. He is being examined to ascertain the source of funds, it added.
