Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials on Tuesday seized cash amounting to Rs 5.15 lakh from the house of an Assistant Engineer of Badachana block in Jajpur district who was nabbed in a bribery case.
Assistant Engineer Bandita Dash and her associate were apprehended by the Vigilance sleuths on Monday night for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 from an executant for clearing his pending bills.
A Vigilance statement said that officials of the anti-corruption agency subsequently conducted simultaneous searches at multiple locations in connection with suspicion of disproportionate assets.
During the searches, officials recovered Rs 5,15,200 in cash from Dash’s residential house near Jenamani Mandap in Jagatpur, Kataka. The cash was subsequently seized.
