Odisha Vigilance Traps Section Officer With Rs 15K Bribe

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday apprehended Jugal Kishore Rout, section officer of Belpada Tehsil in Odisha’s Balangir district, while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe.

According to sources, he had demanded Rs 15,000 from the complainant for processing a file before the Court of Tehsildar, Belpada, and passing a favourable order in connection with a land dispute.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are on at two locations linked to Rout with the Vigilance probing the case from a disproportionate assets angle.
