Odisha Vigilance Unearths Rs 14.81 Lakh From JE Caught Taking Bribe

Bhubaneswar: A day after apprehending a junior engineer (JE) for allegedly accepting Rs 25,000 bribe, the Odisha Vigilance on Sunday informed about having unearthed Rs 14.81 lakh in cash during house searches at Odisha’s Rayagada.

The accused, identified as Purna Chandra Choudhry, had demanded the illegal gratification from a Gaon Saathi to take measurement of the work executed and facilitate release of labour payment under MGNREG scheme. He was caught re-handed with the bribe money at his residence the previous evening. He is posted as JE at Kashipur block in the district.

Sources said that JE had to be hospitalised after he fell sick during the multiple searches at his residence and other properties linked to him.
