Angul: In a shocking incident, a man at Ambapal village in Odisha’s Angul district died after allegedly being administered poisonous injection by some unidentified miscreants while he was asleep.
The deceased was identified as Balkkrushna Nayak, head of Ambapala village committee. He was suspected to have been killed over past enmity.
According to sources, Balkrushna was asleep in his poultry farm, a few yards away from his house, on Saturday night when some unidentified people went there. They allegedly injected poison to him and fled the scene.
Later, groaning in pain, he rushed out of his farm to his house. He told his family members about the incident. He fell unconscious and was rushed to the district headquarters hospital in Angul. As his condition worsened, he was shifted to a hospital in Cuttack, but he succumbed on the way.
His family members have found a letter with a note of warning from the poultry farm. The letter stated that the village head had earlier been warned about something, but he did not pay any heed.
Following a complaint by his kin, police have launched an investigation into the incident and seized two syringes from the crime scene, the sources added.
