Bhubaneswar: Odisha has won the ‘Online Popular City’ of the 5th Guangzhou Award for Urban Innovation 2021.
The Popular City award was for 114 urban local bodies (ULBs) of Odisha and Medal of Honour for two initiatives — Urban Wage Employment Initiative (MUKTA scheme) and Faecal Sludge & Septage Management (FSSM).
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the state Housing and Urban Development Department for the award. Odisha’s urban wage employment initiative was a key factor, drawing most votes polled for the state, media reports said.
