Bhadrak: In a shocking incident, a 70-year-old woman in Odisha’s Bhadrak district has accused her two sons of declaring her dead in official record to grab her property.
The woman, identified as Aisha Bibi of Jayanagar Mouza under Dhamnagar tehsil, alleged that her sons carried out the fraudulent act in 2023 when she was away on a pilgrimage.
She alleged that her sons submitted a false affidavit claiming that their mother had died 40 years ago.
She has further alleged that Dhamnagar Revenue Inspector submitted an official report declaring her dead without conducting any field inquiry. Based on the report, she claims, her house, land and other property were transferred in the names of her sons and daughters-in-law.
The woman approached Dhamnagar police station on July 10 and lodged a complaint against her two sons, daughters-in-law and the RI concerned. She also claimed that her husband was involved in the alleged conspiracy.
Claiming that no action has been taken on her complaint, Aisha staged a protest outside the office of Bhadrak Superintendent of Police to prove that she was alive and seek justice. She ended the protest after the SP assured her of action.
Meanwhile, police have conducted a probe and taken into custody one of Aisha’s sons, while the other remains absconding.
