Balasore: A woman allegedly set herself ablaze over a family dispute at Adia village under Soro block in Odisha’s Balasore district on Sunday
The woman has been identified as Bhanumati Maharana. Her husband, Sasikant Maharana, also sustained severe burn injuries while attempting to save her.
According to sources, the couple had been at loggerheads over some family matter and woke up to a fight this morning. In a fit of rage, Bhanumati poured kerosene on herself and struck a match stick. Sasikant rushed to her help and sustained serious burn injuries in the process. Both were rescued by family members and rushed to Soro Community Health Centre (CHC).
After preliminary treatment, Bhanumati was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, the sources added.
