Odisha Woman Cop ‘Missing’ From Hospital After Suicide Bid Traced

Balangir: Police have traced sub-inspector (SI) Kajal Bag, who went missing on Thursday morning from Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital here where she was admitted after an alleged suicide bid on Wednesday night.

“Her family members took her home at Bhawanipatna after she was discharged from the hospital. Her condition is stable and she will join duty soon,” Balangir SDPO Tophan Bag told the media.

Hospital administration had informed police when they did not find Kajal on her bed during morning check-up.

Four months ago, the SI was transferred from Town police station to Saintala police station in the district. Neighbours at Gopabandhunagar, where she had rented a house, heard shouting over phone and threatening to kill herself. They then informed police. The SI, who had allegedly attempted to end her life by consuming mosquito repellent, was rushed to the Saintala Community Health Centre on Wednesday. Later in the night her condition worsened and she was shifted to Bhima Bhoi hospital.

The exact reason behind the alleged suicide bid is yet to be ascertained.
