Odisha: Woman Doctor Rescued Safely After Getting Trapped In Hospital Lift

Balangir: A woman doctor was safely rescued by the Odisha Fire Services team after getting trapped in a malfunctioning lift at Mother and Child Hospital under Titilagarh sub-divisional hospital in Balangir district, narrowly avoiding a potential accident.

According to sources, the incident took place around 10 pm on Tuesday when the doctor was leaving the hospital after an operation. She, however, got stuck in the lift midday while descending to the ground floor due to a mechanical failure. Her colleagues and hospital staff, who had been looking for her, finally traced her to the lift and alerted the authorities.

Fire Service personnel responded swiftly rescuing her unharmed within minutes by forcibly opening the jammed doors of the lift.

While the doctor later underwent a health check-up, the incident created panic among attendants of the patients and staff alike. The fire department has urged the hospital authorities to review safety protocols and conduct timely inspections to ensure operational readiness.
