Bhubaneswar: A woman belonging to Bhapur in Odisha’s Dhenakanal who was allegedly kidnapped by a ‘fraud’ Mahant of an ashram has been rescued from Khurda on Saturday.
According to sources, the Mahant, Kaibalya Jani while being questioned by police revealed whereabouts of the woman following which a team of Dhenkanal police rescued the woman from Begunia area of Khurda last night.
Jani was reportedly worshipping in his ashram at Baharbila in Tigiria area of Cuttack district when he was picked up and later arrested by the police on Saturday.
The team that raided the ashram comprised Dhenkanal SDPO, IIC of Sadar Police Station, the IIC of Bhapur Police Station and the team of Tigiria Police, said sources.
While the police recovered objectionable material and photos from the Baba’s ashram, a video of the Mahant involved in a vulgar dance amid loud music has also come to the fore.
