Malkangiri: The tribal woman, who was allegedly thrashed and raped by some unidentified assailants inside a police canteen at Tekabada village in Malkangiri district on May 7, died on Tuesday.

The victim’s husband accompanied by members of MaaGhara Foundation, a social organisation, had lodged an FIR in this connection on May 9.
MaaGhara president Rutuparna Mohanty had accused the police of inaction and negligence in treatment of the victim. She was shifted to a hospital in Koraput from Malkangiri on May 10.
When contacted, Malkangiri SP Rishikesh Khilari had said, “The victim is undergoing treatment for other health-related issues. But since an FIR against rape has been lodged, we are investigating into the matter.”
