Kendrapada/Bhubaneswar: A no-confidence motion has been moved against Chameli Ojha, Sarpanch of Tikhiri Gram Panchayat in Odisha’s Kendrapada district.
According to sources, 21 out of 22 ward members have backed the move against the Sarpanch, citing dissatisfaction with her style of functioning.
The motion is set to be put to vote on July 27. The outcome is set to decide whether Chameli Ojha retains her post or is ousted.
While the exact reason behind the no-confidence motion is yet to be officially disclosed, a clear picture is expected to emerge on July 27.
The Sub-Collector has instructed all ward members to attend the voting as per norms under the Odisha Gram Panchayat Act.
The Sub-Collector has also intimated the BDO of Mahakalapada about the proceedings and asked the block office to make necessary arrangements for conducting the vote.
Meanwhile, Chameli has launched an indefinite hunger strike at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar, demanding action against the Mahakalpada BDO and local Inspector of Police. She has brought misbehaviour allegation against the officers during her visit to their office in connection with official work.
