Balangir: Three policemen of Titlagarh’s police barrack were suspended on Monday after detainee Gobinda Sahu, managing committee president of Sunshine English Medium School at Mahaling in Odisha’s Kalahandi district, escaped the previous night.
Sahu, who was detained in connection with the missing of Mamita Meher, principal of the school, since October 8, managed to slip out of the barrack around 9 pm after seeking permission from four armed policemen to wash his hands after dinner, sources said.
Balangir SP Kusalkar Nitin Dagdu suspended three among them for dereliction of duty.
Notably, Sahu was detained on October 13 for interrogation after the bother of the missing teacher, Banti Meher, lodged a complaint at Sindhekela police station, alleging that the former was sexually harassing women employees of the school and forcing them to have physical relations with him.
Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt to nab Sahu. All entry and exit points in Titlagarh town have been blocked.
