Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has not submitted any proposal to the Centre for starting metro railway services between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
This was stated by Kaushal Kishore Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs in the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
Replying to a question from Odisha MP Manas Ranjan Mangaraj, the minister said as per the Metro Rail Policy, 2017, the responsible of initiating metro rail projects rests with a state/Union Territory (UT) government.
“The Centre considers financial assistance for metro projects in cities or urban agglomerates based on feasibility of the proposal and availability of resources and extends its clearance. But no proposal for metro trains for the cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack has been received from the Odisha government,” he added.
