Odisha Youth Cycles 1600km From Mumbai To Native Village In Mayurbhanj

Baripada: An Odia migrant worker, who was stranded in Mumbai due to the lockdown, has cycled 1,600 km to reach his native village in Mayurbhanj district.

The youth started his journey on April 20 and it took him 10 days to cycle back to his native village of Gendagodia in Kaptipada block on Thursday night.

As per reports, Dibyaranjan Lenka was placed under quarantine for a mandatory period of 14 days after his arrival in the state.

Speaking about the hardships he faced during his journey, Lenka said that he was stopped by police at many places while he was cycling back home. However, when he convinced the policeman about his urgency to return to his native place, they allowed him to continue his journey.

Lenka said, “I was working with a textile company in Mumbai. A few days after the lockdown was extended, I decided to return home. With no travel option available, I decided to use my cycle. That way, I stayed away from coming in contact with others. As far as food is concerned, I requested people to help me. They willingly obliged.”

Lenka used to start cycling from early morning and at night, he used to stop and take rest on the road.
