New Delhi: A youth from Odisha set himself ablaze at the India Gate lawns in New Delhi, which saw protests against Citizenship Amendment Act, on Wednesday.
The man, identified as Kartik Maher (25), is said to have suffered 90 per cent burns. He has been admitted to He to the emergency ward of RML Hospital.
A spokesperson of the Union Home Ministry said the self-immolation by Maher was not connected to protests against the amended citizenship law, the PTI reported.
“His brother told us that he is mentally unstable,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Eish Singhal said.
