Bhubaneswar: Nandankanan Zoological Park, on the outskirts of the city, lost a female elephant on Monday.
According to zoo sources, the elephant, ‘Julie’, was suffering from ailments and undergoing treatment at the zoo. However, she died due to acute abdominal colic at 7.09 pm.
The animal was rescued as a two-month-old from a forest in Dhenkanal district and brought to the zoo on May 31, 2009.
