Bhubaneswar: With southwest monsoon making further progress into Odisha, at least 14 districts of the state would receive heavy rainfall till Saturday.
In its evening bulletin, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday forecast that heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Khurda districts till 8.30 am on Saturday.
The IMD also forecast that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts during the period. It has advised the people to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The Met office issued yellow warning for several districts of the state due to likely heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm for next 5 days till 8.30 am, June 29.
The IMD said the weather warning will remain valid for fishermen of Odisha coast for the next 5 days.
