Bhubaneswar: Ace roller skater Anahita Mishra did Odisha and India proud by striking gold at the Faro Inline Freestyle World Cup in Portugal.
The 14-year-old Cuttack girl thus became the first Asian to secure gold medal in the championship dominated by Europeans.
Anahita, who got attracted to roller skating at the age of 3, outperformed the world No. 4 in Speed Slalom to emerge winner on Sunday. Besides the coveted medal, Anahita received a trophy and a cash award, at the prestigious event held on Sunday.
Anahita has established herself as one of the brightest roller skaters not only in India but globally as well.
Earlier this year, she bagged gold medals at the 13th Inline Freestyle Slalom meet in Poland’s Kertzyn as well as in France’s Rennes.
A student of Manav Rachna International School, Noida, Anahita dreams of podium finishes as the Asian Games and World Skate Games.
