Bhubaneswar: The Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express, which is scheduled to be flagged off on May 18, will run 6 days a week, except Thursdays, and have seven stoppages, the Ministry of Railways informed on Tuesday.

Train with 16 coaches will leave Howrah in West Bengal at 6:10 am and arrive in Puri, Odisha at 12:35 pm. The Vande Bharat will depart from Puri at 1.50 pm and reach in Howrah at 8:30 pm, it further said.

The stoppages: Kharagpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur-Keonjhar Road, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road. It will halt at stations for two minutes only.

The semi-high-speed train is likely to be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in virtual mode, according to a notification issued by ECoR earlier, which also informed about the inaugural run being rescheduled to May 18 from May 15.

The Railways further said that the inaugural run of the train can be planned as a special service, which should pick up its link subsequently, if required.

On April 28, the Indian Railways conducted a trial run of the train between Howrah and Puri. When operational, it will be the first Vande Bharat service for Odisha and the second for West Bengal.
