Bhubaneswar: Kiran Manisha Mohanty, the first Woman Grandmaster (WGM) from Odisha, has been appointed coach of the national team.
Kiran will be in charge of the Indian team that will participate in the Asian Continental Chess Championship to be held at Almaty, Kazakhstan, from June 3 to 12.
Kiran first made headlines when she emerged runner-up in the Asian Junior Girls’ Championship at New Delhi in 2006. She earned the Woman International Master title the same year, won the Women’s National ‘B’ title in 2007, before achieving the coveted WGM title in 2010.
