Bhubaneswar: Animesh Kujur can do no wrong on his home turf.
Odisha and India’s sprint king emerged as the fastest man at the 65th National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships by topping the 100m final. The 23-year-old Animesh scorched the Kalinga Stadium track to win in 10.28 seconds.
Maharashtra’s Pranav Gurav finished second in 10.39 seconds, while Odisha had a second man on the podium as Dondapati Jayaram (10.43) finished third.

Two days ago, Animesh struck gold in 200m by clocking 20.74 seconds and qualifying for the Asian Games in Japan in September-October.
Ancy Sojan breaks Anju Bobby’s 22-yr-old record
On the penultimate day of the championships, Ancy Sojan grabbed the limelight by rewriting Anju Bobby George’s 22-year-old national record in Women’s Long Jump.
Kerala’s Ancy registered a stunning effort of 6.88 metres, bettering Anju’s 6.83 metres, which she had set at the 2004 Olympics.
One more national record was set on Saturday.
Maharashtra’s Sarvesh Kushare cleared 2.31 metres to become the new record-holder in Men’s High Jump.
