Bhubaneswar/Bengaluru: Odisha’s Asutosh Padhy pulled off the biggest upset in Senior National Men’s Snooker Championship in Bengaluru on Wednesday by knocking out defending champion and favourite Pankaj Advani in the round-of-32 night clash.
The 21-year-old played aggressively and won the clash 4-1 (62-36, 75-47, 30-60, 90-3, 84-11).
A seven-time sub-junior and junior national champion, Padhy described it as the biggest win of his career, having beaten his idol.
Padhy, who is pursuing a law degree in Mumbai, trains under Sanjay Sawant.
