Bhubaneswar: Four boys and three girls from Odisha have been selected in the Indian squads that will vie for glory in the Asia Rugby Emirates U-18 Championship 2025, to be held take place in China’s Hohhot on September 13 and 14.
KISS student Bidyadhar Majhi will have the honour of leading the men’s team. Fellow statemates and KISS rugby academy products Bharat Kisan, Charan Hembram and Attma Murmu have also found berths in the men’s contingent.
“It’s a huge honour to lead India at the U18 level. We’ve trained hard as a unit, and the entire team is determined to give our best on the field. Playing against strong sides like Hong Kong China and China will push us to raise our game, and we’re ready for the challenge,” said 18-year-old Bidyadhar.
The three Odisha girls — Mamali Singh, Anita Murmu and Raimani Murmu — to have made the 12-member women’s team are also from KISS.
The boys’ team has been placed in Pool A alongside Hong Kong China, China and Qatar.
The Indian girls find themselves in Pool D with Malaysia, Japan and Uzbekistan.
