Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload in Odisha dropped below 7000 on Monday as 6118 more people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hour.
The state had been reporting over 7000 new infections for the last three consecutive days. It had seen over 8000 cases from May 30 to June 3. On May 29, the number was 9541.
The test positivity rate, which had dropped below 10 per cent for the first time after more than one and half years on Sunday, also saw a further fall from 9.72 per cent to 9.10 per cent.
While 6118 of 67178 samples tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The 7002 new cases reported the previous day were detected from 71,973 samples sent for tests.
With the steady decline in new cases, the hotspot districts (more than 1000 active cases) in the state have come down to 11.
Among the fresh infections, 3453 are from quarantine and 2665 local contacts.
According to the I & PR department, the highest of 640 cases have been reported from Cuttack followed by Jajpur (563) and Khurda (495).
