Bhubaneswar: The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has been honoured with the ‘National Public Bus Transport Excellence Award’ in the New Initiatives category’ for Digital Practices at the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU) Awards 2023-24.
The award was presented at a ceremony held at the Jacaranda Hall, India Habitat Centre in New Delhi on Saturday.
General Manager (P&A) of CRUT Sahadev Samadhia received the award on behalf of the organization. CRUT’s digital innovations in public transportation have set a new benchmark in enhancing commuter experience and operational efficiency, according to a press release.
In its efforts to revolutionize urban transport, CRUT has introduced a series of cutting-edge technology solutions. These include UPI-based digital ticketing, a seamless mobile pass system accessible through the Mo Bus app and ONDC platform and an Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS) integrated with real-time bus tracking and passenger crowd indicators.
These features have significantly improved the convenience of travel. Commuters can now easily recharge their Mo Bus cards through Mo Bus app or ETIM machines. Furthermore, the introduction of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) at key transit points ensures a faster and more efficient ticket purchasing process, empowering passengers to travel with ease.
Sharing his thoughts on this achievement, Managing Director of CRUT N Thirumala Naik said, “This award is a testament to the hard work, vision and commitment of the CRUT team toward transforming public transport in the urban areas. We remain dedicated to enhancing the quality of travel for our passengers through digital innovations, ensuring seamless, efficient, and sustainable transport solutions.”
The digital initiatives are aligned with the Odisha government’s vision of ‘Vikshit Odisha’, aiming to build a digitally integrated and smart transport ecosystem that prioritizes accessibility, convenience and sustainability.
