Kendrapara: What’s a house without a door? Well, its an object of awe or maybe even fantasy! That is exactly the thought that the district administration of Sialia village under Rajkanika block has decided to cash in on.
The village is unique because none of its houses have doors or locks. So now the district administration has decided to invest some money and attract tourists to this place. It has started developing a park, a playground and a public toilet to provide basic amenities for tourists to spend leisure time with family members.
In a world ridden with crime and mutual distrust, this village stands out as somewhat utopian. “I recently visited the hamlet under Baradia panchayat along with my colleagues where nearly 40 families reside. The houses there have only frames but no doors.Their safety lockers serve no purpose as these have no locks,” says the District Collector, Samarth Verma. The villagers derive courage from their faith in their deity, Maa Kharakhai. They believe that she takes care of them.
The district administration has pumped in Rs 20 lakh and started work on a rural park and a public toilet. Another Rs 10 lakh has been provided for a playground at Sialia, indicated the DC.
