Tokyo: Ace sprinter from Odisha Dutee Chand may have had a disappointing outing in the Olympics on Friday as she finished seventh in the Heat of her Women’s 100 m Round 1.
But Dutee can take inspiration from the fact that she ran against the fastest woman in the world, Shelly Ann-Fraser Pryce, who won the Heat comfortably with a timing of 10.84 seconds.

On her part, the 25-year-old Odisha sprinter said she has put the loss behind her and instead focusing on her 200 m event on August 2. She also requested her fans to pray and support her for the upcoming event.
“First of all I would like to thank everyone who pray for me and specially Hon’ble CM @Naveen_Odisha Sir, @achyuta_samanta Sir & Shri VK Pandian Sir who personally called me yesterday night and give me best wishes. I am sorry as I couldn’t stand to all your expectations,” Dutee tweeted after her loss on Friday.
“Now I am not thinking much about this as my 200M event will be on 02nd August. I will request all to pray and support in the same way for my upcoming event,” she added.
