Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday said Odisha registered an impressive 55% growth in exports upto November in the present financial year despite COVID-19 pandemic.
Inaugurating the State Export Award 2021 function through video-conferencing, the chief minister said, “This is an outstanding achievement by the exporters in the face of global recession and stiff international competition.”
Stating that quality of products is an essential factor for boosting export, he said the producers should think of world-class standard while considering the quality of their products.
Congratulating the exporting community of the state, he hoped that the upward trend will continue in the coming years.
“My Government is striving to create a conducive atmosphere to promote export through greater ease of doing business, implementation of 5T mechanism, infrastructure support and facilities for quality standardization. We are among the top five States in the Export Preparedness Index (EPI) 2020 released by the Niti Aayog. Our efforts to promote exports are paying off in boosting our export turnover consistently,” Naveen said.
He further said district level export promotion committee has been constituted in each district to facilitate export of local products. “Time is not far off when the departmental stores in Europe and America will showcase the products made by our Women Self Help Groups from Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Malkangiri,” he added.
