Balasore: Fakir Mohan University launched a centre for Marine Bioresources and Biotechnology on the campus in an effort to promote teaching and research activities on marine bioresources and biotechnology. According to the university, this is the first of its kind in Odisha.
“India has a great potential in the field of marine bioresources and can exploit marine fisheries, seaweed. horseshoe crabs and other living resources. Thus my government will be extending all financial help in the fisheries sector,” Union Minister of State for fisheries, animal husbandry and dairying, Pratap Chandra Sarangi was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
State higher education minister Arun Kumar Sahoo advised the student to look beyond textbooks and tap new knowledge areas which will benefit both the students as well as the society.
