Bhubaneswar: Former director, Town Planning, Surendra Behera passed away in the Odisha capital on Tuesday. He was 68.
He is survived by his wife, daughter and a son.
A native of Balanga village of Puri district, he was the first Chief Town Planner of Odisha.
This alumnus of Ravenshaw College and Utkal University did his masters in Regional Planning from IIT-Kharagpur in 1980. He obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Urban and Regional Planning from the Technical University of Szczecin, Poland, in 1984.
He served in various positions in the Directorate of Town Planning from 1977 to 2010 and was also a Planning Member of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).
