Odisha’s First Lady Cremated At Puri’s Swargadwara With Full State Honours

Bhubaneswar: The last rites of Sushila Devi, first lady of Odisha, were performed at Puri Swargadwara with full state honours on Monday.

Her son Manish Lal performed the last rituals.

Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal’s wife passed away on Sunday night. The mortal remains of her body were taken to Raj Bhavan and then to Swargadwara for cremation.

The 74-year-old Sushila Devi had tested positive for COVID-19 three weeks ago. She was under treatment in a private hospital at Bhubaneswar.

She is survived by husband, four daughters, and three sons.

Ministers Naba Kishore Das, Sameer Das, Ashok Panda, former speaker Niranjan Pujari, Sanjay Kumar Das Burma, MLA Jayant Sadangi, SP K Vishal Singh, were present during cremation.
